Hi Everyone!
I hope all has been well this spring so far! I just wanted to send out an update before we embark on this weekend. For the majority of the team this is their first time competing in a regatta. I know that a lot of the girls have their nerves on end, but I have assured them that there is nothing to be nervous about! This Sunday might seem a little crazy and hectic at times but I promise that it will become like a second nature to everyone.
In regards to the timing for this Sunday, our first race begins at 3:10. This could be a blessing or a curse depending on your personal preferences. That being said, the time that each rower should report to the Schuylkill River will be at 12 Noon. We need plenty of time to re-rig the boats, stretch, warm up, etc. Even though this is our start time this week, it flip-flops each week whether the boys or girls race first. Each week will be different, but this week we will meet at 12 Noon.
In past updates I have talked about the food tent that The Prep is offering us. Prior to recent discussions the cost for the food tent was $245. Being that we are only going to be with them for a portion of their regattas, 7 regattas total, they have lowered the price for our families. They offered $20/family/race. So if we are participating in 7 races that would be $140/family which is a great deal. We would still have to provide munchies type snacks and volunteer to help out at races where needed. I need some feedback from the parents of OLMA Crew whether or not you are interested in partaking in the food tent.
Just a reminder again, our Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A is April 13th from 5-8 pm. Tell your friends and family to mention OLMA Crew on the night of the event.
One last exciting thing! I have created a website for OLMA Crew. On this website you will find any information needed this season. In addition having general information, directions and schedules are also on the webpage. One last bit of info about the website is that there will be a “Current Rowers” page. On this page will be posted all of the parent updates, helpful videos, links to other websites, etc. Please become acquainted with this website, as valuable information will be readily available to you.
